IT looks like we might finally have a date to circle in the diary for GTA 6.
Rockstar Games' next instalment in the iconic Grand Theft Auto franchise is currently pencilled in for 26 May 2026.
But as any gamer knows, Rockstar is no stranger to moving the goalposts when it comes to launch dates.
Has GTA 6 already been delayed?
Originally tipped to arrive in late 2025, GTA VI was pushed back to May 2026 – and fans are bracing themselves for yet another setback.

Delays are nothing new for Rockstar, with the studio notorious for taking extra time to polish its blockbuster titles.
Still, that extra wait usually pays off, with previous releases like Red Dead Redemption 2 proving worth every second.
Rockstar update on GTA6
This week, Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, doubled down on the release date during a shareholders' meeting.
Why not follow the Sunday Star on Facebook, Instagram and X?
"Take-Two says GTA VI is still targeting May 26, 2026 and that Rockstar 'will share more details in the future'," tweeted fan account GTA 6 Countdown.
The same account teased an upcoming earnings call in November where "we should hear an update around that and possibly see a new trailer".

Will GTA 6 get delayed again?
Fans remain split on whether Rockstar will stick to its guns.
"Translation: we will delay it," scoffed one pessimistic user, bbrichardbb.
"The last time they said that, a few days later, a trailer came out," countered optimist gasparini_61267.
Another fan, johnnyjl96, said: "If they don't release a new trailer by the end of the year to reaffirm it, I expect a fall 2026 delay."
And Janonx1 piled on with: "We've gone from releasing to targeting. See you in September 2026."
