PHILLIP SCHOFIELD sensationally admitted having an affair with a young man at ITV after stepping down from This Morning.
The telly presenter, 61, apologised for "lying" to his colleagues at the network after his romance with the "younger male colleague".
Rumours of Schofield's romance with the lad circulated for years, but now Phillip has finally come clean in a shocking statement.
"The first thing I want to say is: I am deeply sorry for having lied," he told MailOnline.
"I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning."
He admitted meeting the lad as a "teenager" before helping him "get into television".
"It was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship," Phillip said in his statement.
He added: "That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over."
Apologising to the press, which Schofield lied to on many occasions, he added: "I am painfully conscious that I have lied to my employers at ITV…
"…to my colleagues and friends, to my agents, to the media and therefore the public, and most importantly of all to my family."
"I am so very, very sorry, as I am for having been unfaithful to my wife."
